Commentaries around
“This Sūtra is offering a way to palliate disturbance in the mind.
The approach here is an appropriate Pracchardana to,
as if, to spew or throw out the exhale in a proper way.
The exhalation is seen as the healing part of the breath.
So, some techniques must be used with this aspect of the
breath, even perhaps, the judicious application of chanting.
However, some people cannot even sit, let alone breathe.
Therefore, the practice of linking Āsana with the breath,
can help to initiate a settling in both the body and the mind.”
– Paul Harvey on Yoga Sūtra Chapter One verse 34
