Yoga Rahasya Chapter One verse 42

prāṇa-prakopāt-sarvāṇi vikṣiptāni caranti hi |
manasā saha bāhyeṣu viṣayeṣu viṣātmasu |
tasmāt-prāṇam nigṛnhīyāt reca-pūraka-kumbhakaiḥ ‖

prāṇa - the breath of life, breath, respiration, spirit, vitality; vital air; air inhaled, wind; vigour, energy, powerprakopa - effervescence, excitement, raging (of diseases, war &c); provocation, aggravationsarva - allvikṣipta - occasionally steady; able to withdraw itself from painful objectsmanas - mind; that which objects of sense affectsaha - accompanybāhya - external; being outside, situated without, outer, exterior; diverging from, conflicting with, opposed to, having nothing to do with; not belonging to the family or country, strange, foreign; excluded from caste or the community, an out-casteviṣaya - an object of sense; anything perceptible by the senses; any object of affection or concern or attentionrecaka - exhalepūraka - inhalekumbhaka - retention
