Haṭha Pradīpikā Chapter Three verse 14
महाक्लेशादयो दोषाः क्षीयन्ते मरणादयः ।
महामुद्रां च तेनैव वदन्ति विबुधोत्तमाः ॥१४॥
mahākleśādayaḥ doṣāḥ kṣīyante maraṇādayaḥ |
mahāmudrāṃ ca tena-eva vadanti vibudha-uttamāḥ ||
“It dissolves defects like the Mahā Kleśa such as the fear of Death.
For this reason the wise call it the Mahāmudrā”
mahā - greatkleśa - afflictions; distress; anguishdoṣa - affection, defect, fault, biological humourskṣaya - diminish, wasting or wearing awaymaraṇa - the act of dying, deathmahāmudrā - great sealca - andeva - indeed, truly, really; thus; so, just so, exactly sovadanti - they sayvibudha - wise or learned man, teacher; destitute of learned menuttama - most elevated, principal; uppermost, highest, chief; best, excellent
