The workshop introduces students to the primary principles and essential teachings from the Bhagavad Gītā and how they inspire and inform our personal Yoga Sādhana.
“Jñānam is the wisdom of ‘I am that’.
Vijñānam is the discernment of ‘I am not this’ ‘I am not that’.”
– Bhagavad Gītā Chapter Seven verse 2
It is presented with the aim of reflecting the fundamentals of Śrī T Krishnamacharya’s teaching, namely, transmission occurs through the direct experience of the teacher with the students personal practice & study Sādhana.
A Gītā study workbook with a verse by verse index for each chapter is included as part of the Course Manual for all participating students.
In addition, to support the teaching of this important text we will be using selected verses from the Gītārtha Saṃgraha of Śrī Yāmunācārya. This is an important commentary on the Bhagavad Gītā which very succinctly summarises each of its eighteen chapters into eighteen verses. A relevant verse by verse reference will be provided as part of the workshop manual to help with our study. As such it will be a invaluable support for the study of the Gītā.
