Online 121 Yoga Techniques & Textual Theory eStudy Modular Overview

– Clear your Flow Exploring Awareness within Mind and Emotions

The primary text that I was privileged to be able to study in its entirety over three times, word by word, Sūtra by Sūtra along with the commentaries of Krishnamacharya and then Desikachar, within the intimacy and vitality of private lessons over 23 years of visits to Chennai, was the Yoga Sūtra.

I was also fortunate to study the Yoga Sūtra 121 with the two longest-serving students of Krishnamacharya, Srivatsa Ramaswami from 1979-1985 and my root Yoga teacher TKV Desikachar from 1979-2003.

“The problem is in the mind and the key is in the mind.”
– TKV Desikachar

I can only offer profound gratitude for what this learning has helped lead me towards personally and professionally in being able to offer small study group Workshops and Courses to share these teachings.

“The beauty of the Sūtra is that they are only related to the mind.
Thus they stand above various religions and can be studied and
related to by all types of persons from all types of religions.”

– TKV Desikachar on Yoga Sūtra Chapter One verse 1

With this in mind, I designed a range of Workshop and Course Modules with detailed Sūtra Workbooks to support the transmission of fundamental, primary and advanced aspects of the teachings I have received.

Online 121 Art of Sūtra Psychology eStudy Module One

This particular eStudy Module One consists of nine 121 live video 50′ meetings to facilitate a personalised approach and in-depth transmission between teacher and student.

“Patañjali
 was
very
prophetic, because
he spoke
 not
only
 of
yesterday’s
mind,
but
also
 of
 tomorrow’s. His
message
concerns
clarity,
and it
will
become
more
and
more
pertinent
 as
 time
goes
by,
because
people
are
now
 questioning
much
more
than
 before.”
– TKV Desikachar

It introduces the student, through an online teaching dialogue, to the primary principles and essential teachings from T Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar on the Yoga Sūtra.

The Online 121 Sūtra Psychology Module One reflects the teachings of TKV Desikachar and his father and teacher T Krishnamacharya as taught to Paul Harvey over 25 years through:

  • Guidance in emphasising a personal reflective study to support your life.
  • Understanding the principles that inspire and shape Yoga psychology.
  • An overview of primary Yoga Sūtra concepts around body and mind.
  • Familiarisation with basic Yoga Sūtra terms and practice techniques.
  • Appreciating how chanting the Yoga Sūtra can aid their absorption and deepen our understanding.
  • Deepening the reflective aspects of our personal practice with the Yoga Sūtra.

To present a view of the Yoga Sūtra through which students can support and develop their own practice and deepen their appreciation of the possibilities for the Yoga Sūtra in their lives.

It offers an in-depth approach to the Yoga Sūtra, through an experiential appreciation of the core teachings that underpin the Art of Sūtra Psychology, either for personal development or, if relevant, to enhance professional skills.

It is also a prerequisite to further work in:
