108 Postural Practice Pointers – 71 – Samasthiti – The Space between the Past and the Future

One Bhāvana for Samasthiti is to hold it as a
unique space between the past and the future.
Here it can offer a timeless moment of presence
between the past action and the future intention.
A moment to reflect on the outcome of the Āsana
done ere to the experience of the Āsana to come.

  1. I like the wording of this post. It creates a strong feel for me, of what is being described.
I remember (if memory is serving me correctly) when we were training, that Paul Harvey would sometimes say, ‘if you can create good habits of practice on the mat, it can translate into everyday life’.
To allow/hold a space between actions, strikes me as a very good habit to establish.

  2. Love your comments on Samasthiti! This might help students to understand its significance more instead of pulling their jersey down, haha.
    Thank you!
